We’ve talked about how to find the perfect party dress for the Christmas season – but we all know that no outfit is complete without the right footwear. A great pair of shoes doesn’t just complement your outfit; it can have a real impact on the way you feel. Whether you’re wearing killer heels or quirky ankle boots, here’s our guide to making sure your shoes are making a real statement this season.
Heeled court shoes are a no-brainer when it comes to a stylish party outfit, particularly if you’re wearing a short to mid-length skirt. Heels will give your legs definition and add a couple of inches to your height. The number one rule with court shoes is that they should always match your dress – not necessarily in colour, but always in tone. |

For example, if you’re wearing a colourful, eye-catching dress, try to find some equally flamboyant shoes. We currently have a real thing for these Metallic Print Court Shoes – they won’t work with everything but get it right they’ll certainly make an impression!
If you’re going for something a little more conservative, you really can’t go wrong with a pair of classic black court shoes like these Tamaris and City Walk designs. The latter are available in black, metallic or white, so you can effortlessly match them with anything.
| White court shoes can be a very cute way of doing something a bit different, but be careful of matching them with very dark dresses or you could end up with a two-tone look. |
Court shoes aren’t your only option of course. You can get equally fabulous results with Ankle Boots, particularly if you pair them with leggings or tights. They’ll help keep you warmer, and they’re generally a little easier to walk in too – always worth considering if you plan on having a Christmas sherry or two! We’re loving these Suede and leather hush puppies; fabulous colours and bang on trend for the season.
Do you have a pair of shoes that are particularly special to you for those big nights out? Have you ever had a footwear-related disaster, such as tripping over in your heels or spending the night in agony with an ill-advised new purchase? As ever
